Door County Land Trust consists of more than 8,500 acres of protected preserves that are available to the public for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and wildlife observation. More than a dozen preserves offer trails ranging from a half mile up to almost three miles.
Washington Island contains four of the Nature Preserves: the Richter Community Forest Nature Preserve, Detroit Harbor Nature Preserve, Domer-Neff Nature Preserve & Bird Sanctuary, and Little Lake Nature Preserve.
