The National Railroad Museum strives maintains a noteworthy collection of railroad objects, photographs, manuscripts and rolling stock. There are numerous trains on display, both inside the large exhibit hall and outside on actual working railroad tracks. The National Railroad Museum is home to the “Big Boy”, the world’s largest steam locomotive weighing in at 1.1 million pounds and measuring over half a football field long.

The museum also houses the GG-1, America’s most famous electric locomotive, which has been featured on US postage stamps. Visitors can walk through many of the trains on display.
