The Washington Island Stavkirke is a traditional Scandinavian Stavkirke (stave church) and one of the most popular attractions on Washington Island. It was completed in 1999 based on drawings of one built in Norway dating to 1150 AD. The Stavkirke is owned and managed by Trinity Lutheran Church, and Wednesday evening services are held there during the summer at 7 pm. There is also a prayer path leading through the woods.
