Pottawatomi Lighthouse sits on a high bluff at the northern tip of Rock Island in Rock Island State Park. The current structure was first put into use in 1858 and produced a white light visible for 14 nautical miles. The lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Tours are offered daily from Memorial Day through Columbus Day, and visitors can climb to the lantern room.
