The Historic Washington House is an 1850s inn that features an old-time saloon, historic ballroom and many other exhibits and relics from the time. Don’t miss Berners’ Ice Cream Parlor, where the ice cream sundae was invented in 1881. The U.S. Postal Service issued a commemorative stamp in 2016 acknowledging Two Rivers as the home of the Ice Cream Sundae. Washington House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Washington House is typically open Friday through Sunday afternoons from May through October, but check their website before visiting as hours may vary according to volunteer availability.
