Simmons Island Park Beach is a sandy beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. The beach has a boardwalk and also portable mobility mats which are installed each day after grooming. The North Pier Lighthouse is just adjacent to the beach. The Park has a paved bike trail, playground and open-air picnic pavilion. Pets, grills, glass containers and flotation devices are not permitted in swimming area.

The Anderson Arts Center is located on the Kemper Center grounds. The mansion, built between 1929 and 1931 by James and Janet Anderson, is over 9,000 square feet and has more than 30 rooms. The mansion contained many luxuries unusual for its day. The home became part of the Kemper Center in 1990
